New in 2022: MCC Swim Team "PINK OUT" Fundraiser /Time Sensitive Info
Greetings MCC Swim Team Families!
We have lots of information coming to you over the next few weeks as we prepare for practices starting up next week on Wednesday, May 11th! We will be sending out more reminders and info in the coming days. You can also visit our team website for information on practices times, dates, swim meet dates, and more.A new event this season is our "PINK OUT" at our last swim meet!!! TIME SENSITIVE ORDERING INFO!We have time sensitive information about a new fundraising event this season. For the first time ever, the Cobb County Swim League is participating in a league-wide fundraiser to support "It's the Journey", a non-profit that helps families of people diagnosed with breast cancer right here in Cobb County and the state of Georgia. The league President, Jason Frankel, has a personal story that inspired his family to create this as a fundraiser for the league (shared below).
In 2020, It’s the Journey took a break from the 2-day walk, as many people did due to Covid-19, but in 2021 we committed to walk again. But, life decided to throw us another curveball and my wife’s tumor came back! In July she had a lumpectomy and in order to be extra careful, she was then scheduled for chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Again, our village stepped in and helped out tremendously while we all went through this treacherous journey. Now in 2022 she has completed 3 months of chemotherapy, 33 radiation treatments, an oophorectomy, and now hormone therapy to proudly say she is again “cancer free”. Cancer hit twice, so now we are hitting back twice and harder. We would like the Cobb Summer Swim League to spread awareness and raise money to help stop this vicious disease and to help support other families that are fighting the fight. In teaming up with It’s the Journey, we will be selling pink shirts, pink caps, and pink bracelets to raise money for breast cancer. We have come up with the “pink out” for week 5 of this season in hopes that swimmers and parents will come together, wear pink, and show support for all of the other families that have been affected by breast cancer.
In conjunction with It’s the Journey, the Cobb Summer Swim League and its families we will be helping people diagnosed with breast cancer right here in Cobb County and the state of Georgia. I hope that you will join the fight with us to help everyone affected by breast cancer.
Jason Frankel
